Police investigating the aggravated burglary at a Church Street address in the early hours of Friday morning are still seeking sightings of a red hatchback car.

A 71-year-old woman was seriously assaulted, had her eftpos card and vehicle taken.

The car has been previously stolen and Police can confirm the woman was the victim of an aggravated burglary in October last year.

She is now safe and is being supported by her family and Victim Support.

A forensic examination is continuing at the scene today.

Detective Inspector Marc Hercock says Palmerston North Police are focused on holding the person responsible for this to account.

“This was a traumatising attack and we have a dedicated team working tirelessly to resolve the matter.”

“Public sightings of the car are critical to the investigation.”

Police would like to hear from anyone who has seen a red Toyota Corolla registration plate EWG803 being driven around or parked in the wider Manawatu area.

Anyone who has seen the car is being urged to contact Palmerston North Police on (06) 351 3600.

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
