Palmerston North shooting – update #2

1 min read

Palmerston North Police have now completed a scene examination at the property where a man was shot in the leg late last night (25 November 2013).

The scene examination was completed this afternoon and officers have now also formally interviewed the victim and his father.

Police understand that the 50-year-old victim and his father went outside together to the parked vehicle and were confronted by the offender. A short physical altercation has taken place between the victim and the offender, and the victim’s father has run back into the house to call Police. After the altercation the offender has shot the victim in the leg and left the scene.

“We are continuing to interview witnesses and make area inquiries and every effort is being made to locate the offender whose identity is known to Police,” says Officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Harrison.

Police are still keen to speak to anyone that may have any information about this incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Palmerston North Police (06) 351 3600. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
