The young man found dead in a Panmure home yesterday morning was 19 year-old Shane Paul Hawe-Wilson of Wanganui.

The post-mortem examination has been completed and Mr Hawe-Wilson's body has been returned to his family, members of whom have travelled from Wanganui. Police allege Mr Hawe-Wilson was viciously attacked at the Panmure address where he died. A 35 year-old Balmoral man appeared in the Auckland District Court today charged with his murder.

The accused was remanded in custody, granted interim name suppression and is scheduled to reappear in  the Auckland High Court on July 22.

The scene examination of the Jellicoe Rd address is expected to be completed later today.
