Police and Search and Rescue are in contact with a party of six who became stuck in Kahurangi National Park after one of the vehicles they were in became stuck in snow.
The two adults and four children, all under five years-old, had been able to locate a hut nearby for shelter overnight and have plenty of supplies.
Staff will be in touch with the group again around 8.00am this morning to discuss options to help them out of the area.
At present, the plan to get them out will be dependant on weather and road conditions.
