1 min read

Police acknowledge the sentencing of Paul Jonathan David Nimmo in Hamilton District Court today.

The victim in this matter has been exceptionally brave in coming forward and it is thanks to him that Nimmo can be held to account for his actions.

Nimmo held a position of authority over the victim and breached the trust placed in him by the community.

Police undertook a thorough investigation into the matter which was well support by Oranga Tamakiri staff who conducted extensive interviews with a large number of young witnesses which were crucial to the outcome today.

“Our children have a right to be safe in the community, they should be free to grow and learn without harm from those people who are there to guide and protect them. Police is committed to keeping our children safe, anyone who feels unsafe or who needs support should contact their local Police station or in an emergency call 111,” said Detective Sergeant Nick O’Brien.
