Police appeal for public’s help following sexual assault

Canterbury Police are appealing for witnesses to a sexual assault and theft which is reported to have occurred around 3am on Easter Sunday (5 April 2015) near the intersection of Ferry Road and Nursery Road.

A lone female is understood to have been walking along Ferry Road towards the intersection with Nursery Road when she was accosted by an unknown man walking behind her and pulled into a nearby driveway.  The man is described as Caucasian with short dark hair, approx 30-40 years of age, above average height wearing jeans and a dark hoodie.  The man didn’t have any discernible accent.

The man followed the victim as she fled along Ferry Road towards the Embankment Tavern and snatched her brown/black handbag.

Canterbury Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen the man approach or follow the victim along Ferry Road or witnessed the incident near the intersection of Ferry Road and Nursery Road to contact.
