Police appeal for witnesses to alleged attempted robbery at Bush Inn

At approximately 10.15pm last night (19 February 2015) a member of staff in his 60’s working at the Bush Inn Tavern disturbed two intruders as they was closing up for the night. 

Police investigations into the incident are continuing.

One person is reported to have confronted the staff member before both people fled the premises on foot crossing Waimairi Road before heading towards Joe’s Garage on Leslie Street.  The staff member is understood to have suffered minor scratches during the brief altercation.

One person is described as a male, approximately 180cm tall (6 foot), solid build wearing a dark grey beanie and dark clothing.  The other person is described as short, slim build wearing a dark grey hoodie and dark trousers.

Canterbury Police are keen to talk to anyone who may have witnessed two people running across Waimairi Road or along Leslie Street shortly after 10.15pm last night. 

Police are also keen to identify person in the CCTV image.  They are of interest to the inquiry and are not necessarily one of the people described in this media release.
