Police appeal for witnesses to fatal crash near Dargaville

Police are appealing for witnesses to the movements of a ute involved in a fatal crash south of Dargaville on Saturday.

The incident happened at approximately 3.45 pm about 30 kilometres south of Dargaville on Pouto Road, Tikinui. 

The vehicle, a red Toyota Hilux twin cab 4 x 4 ute, was travelling north on Pouto Road when it partially left the road and struck a bridge.

Dargaville Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the crash.

Forty-two-year old Anne Talijancich, who was a passenger in the ute, died at the scene.
The 44-year-old male driver suffered minor injuries.

Two children, a girl aged 10 years and boy aged two years, were taken to Auckland Starship Hospital. The girl remains in hospital in a serious condition and the boy is in a stable condition.
