Gore Police are appealing to the public for information on an arson in the Argyle Street/Kana Street area of Mataura.
The fire began around 1am on Friday 5 October 2018. The house was occupied at the time.
The occupants’ dog alerted them in the fire’s early stages and as a result the fire was extinguished before any serious harm or damage occurred.
However the incident had potential to have been significantly worse and police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything.
Anyone who saw or heard anything around or after 1am Friday is urged to contact Gore Police on 03 203 9300, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
