Police data becomes more accessible with launch of new mobile-friendly interactive reports

1 min read

Police data is becoming much more accessible, with the latest enhancement in reporting going live from today, Monday 30 April.

Policedata.nz was launched in November 2016 as an interactive reporting tool where data is released on the last working date of each month.

Mark Evans, Deputy Chief Executive: Strategy, says that Police has responded to feedback since the launch of the tool.

“We’ve received feedback from regular users of the site, including members of the public and the media that it’s not as user-friendly as we want it to be. In particular from today, the Police Data will be available in a mobile-friendly format.

“The Police Data Analytics Team have been working to ensure data is more accessible by making use of new technology and to make it easier to download data, and rolling out new reports with more data, including calls for service and Police activities.

“Today, we have also launched a new ‘Crime Snapshot’ report that makes it even easier to quickly see the crime picture for any part of New Zealand.

Mr Evans says plans are underway to develop more reports in the same format.

“We’re hopeful this makes finding data a lot easier for people, but of course we’re always keen to hear new feedback.”
