Police Divers recover body in Canterbury this morning

Canterbury Police SAR can confirm that the New Zealand Police National Dive Squad located the body of a diver approximately 100m from the last known position of the missing diver at approximately 8.45am this morning (10 February 2015).  Formal identification has yet to be completed however it is likely to be the diver who went missing on Sunday morning (8 February 2015).

The death has been referred to the Coroner.  No details of the deceased will be released until formal identification and the process to inform next of kin have been completed.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The five Police divers resumed their search at around 7am this morning where underwater visibility had improved from yesterday.
