Police investigate chemistry department burglary

Canterbury Police are investigating a burglary at the chemistry department at the University of Canterbury where chemicals have been taken.

Detective Sergeant Richard Quested says “A scene examination has been completed and Police inquiries are ongoing.  The burglary is likely to have occurred overnight on Sunday 14 June 2015.  Amongst the chemicals that are missing are some that could be used to manufacture illegal drugs.  Anyone who finds any suspicious chemicals or discarded chemical containers should call 111 immediately and not touch them.”

Canterbury Police investigations are continuing and officers will be on site again today.

Anyone who has any information in relation to this burglary and stolen chemicals is asked to call Christchurch Central Police Station on 03 363 7400.
