Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 21 month old girl on a rural property near Westport yesterday afternoon.
The toddler had been playing outside at her home. A family member went to check on her and found lying in a shallow garden pond. The pond was fenced.
Attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at Westport Hospital.
