Around 9.50pm a man entered the store with a scarf and sunglasses covering his face.

He pulled the pistol grip of a hand gun from the waistband of his trousers and demanded the shopkeeper hand over two packets of cigarettes.

The shopkeeper told the man to leave and attempted to call Police.

The offender then left empty handed, heading south on Palmerston Street.
