Police release name of Paeroa fire fatality

As the name of the man who lost his life in a Paeroa blaze is released, Police and Fire Investigators continue their scene examination to determine the cause of the fire.

Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Pitkethley said the early morning fire claimed the life of 68 year old local man, Alan James Scott.

“A post mortem was completed in Auckland today to determine how Mr Scott died. It will be a number of weeks before those findings are available.”

“On behalf of New Zealand Police we offer our condolences to the family of Mr Scott.” said Mr Pitkethley.

“Our staff will be continuing to work in and around the scene over the coming days, in conjunction with the Fire Service, to fully understand how the fire was caused and provide answers for Mr Scott’s family.
