Police urge motorists to take extra care

1 min read

Tasman Police are reminding motorists that with the winter season now upon us, extra care needs to be taken on our roads.

District Road Policing Manager Inspector Iain McKenzie says, with such a mild May, the sudden onset of cold weather can catch motorists off-guard.

"It's important for motorists to realise that when the weather changes, their driving behaviour needs to change too."

Safe winter driving includes keeping windscreens clean and fully defrosted, taking care in shady areas where there may be ice on the road, using headlights in fog and keeping good following distances.

“We want everyone to be safe on our roads this winter, so take extra care and drive to the conditions,” says McKenzie.
