Porirua Police hold offenders to account for aggravated robberies

1 min read

Porirua Police arrested a 32-year-old man yesterday in relation to several robberies that occurred in September 2015.

The man has been charged with three counts of aggravated robbery and appeared in Porirua District Court yesterday.

The premises targeted in these robberies were licensed premises as well as a small store, and a firearm was presented on each occasion.

Multiple people were involved in these robberies and one other person is assisting Police with these enquiries at this stage.

These latest charges are in addition to the arrest of a 42-year-old man last month, who was also charged with these robberies.

Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson said “Today’s efforts were due to the tenacity of investigators, driven to hold these violent offenders to account. While it has taken us longer to get this result than we would have liked, we did not give up, we remained focused and eventually obtained sufficient evidence to charge these men.”
