Public reports of suspicious behaviour lead to two arrests

Two men were arrested on Thursday afternoon last week (8 January 2015)  after a member of the public alerted Police to suspicious behaviour near a light commercial van located on Fitzgerald Ave in Christchurch. 

One of the two men, a 45 year old, was arrested on London Street.  Two members of the public called Police with sightings of the second man and at approximately 3.30pm a 35 year old man was arrested near Purchas Street.

A light commercial van, reported as stolen, was recovered together with tools and other property. 

Both men have been charged with Unlawfully Taking a Motor Vehicle and Receiving Property. They are due to appear in Christchurch District Court on 14 January 2015.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing and more charges may be laid.
