Quantity of drugs seized after warrant executed in Linwood

1 min read

Canterbury Police executed a search warrant at a rented residential address near the intersection of Hereford Street and Stanmore Road at approximately 7am this morning (24 March 2015) after information was received relating to synthetic cannabis being sold from the address.

A cordon was established in the vicinity while Canterbury Police AOS cleared the address as the information provided suggested there may have been firearms at the property.  The cordon was removed at around 8 am.

Detective Sergeant Richard Quested said “The property is divided into two flats and there were seven people at the property including a small child. Some of the occupants are members of a local gang.  While Canterbury Police Specialist Search and a Police dog and handler searched the property a member of the public arrived at the address and told plain-clothed officers they wanted to buy synthetic cannabis.”

A quantity of methamphetamine worth $2,000 was seized by Police along with a number of bags of synthetic cannabis which appeared to be packaged for sale and over $2,000 cash.

Canterbury Police investigations are continuing.

“We would like to thank those who provided information which led to the drug seizures today.  It only takes one call to disrupt the supply of drugs in your community and we encourage anyone who can provide information of drug dealing in the District to contact Police.  Canterbury Police are committed to disrupting the supply of these destructive drugs and preventing the harm this illegal trade supports” said Detective Sergeant Quested.

Anyone with information can contact Police on 03 363 7400 and selecting option 5.

Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
