Search for missing diver goes underwater

Canterbury Police SAR can confirm that five members of the New Zealand Police National Dive Squad are in the process of searching the location where the missing 37 year old diver was last seen. 

The search site is located off Motunau beach at a depth of approximately 10 metres.  Currently the underwater visibility is one metre.

Yesterday an extensive surface search was undertaken by boat, plane and helicopter.  There have been no sightings of the missing diver since she started her dive at approximately 9.10am yesterday (8 February 2015). 

A further update will be provided later on today.
