Search warrants lead to arrest

1 min read

Southern Police have arrested a 21 year-old man on drugs offences after four search warrants were conducted across Dunedin and Queenstown this week.

The joint Police and NZ Customs operations resulted with the seizure of 1kg of ethylone, a class C controlled drug, which has a street value of $200,000.

The man faces charges of importing ethylone, a class C controlled drug and supplying ecstasy, a class B controlled drug. Further charges are likely.

"This is yet another case of a young man taking a huge gamble with his future and risking everything for the chance to make easy money," says Acting Detective Hamish Barrons of the Southern District Organised Crime group.

The male appeared in the Invercargill District Court today.

As the matter is before the courts, Police are unabel to comment further on this.
