1 min read

Manawatu Police have arrested six people in a two-day sting targeting an established methamphetamine supply ring.

Ten search warrants were executed over the 4th and 5th of December, 2013; eight at residential properties and two at commercial properties. From these warrants the six were arrested and a small quantity of methamphetamine was located by officers as well as stolen property which included a digital projector.

Detective Sergeant Dave Thompson of the Manawatu CIB says the focus of the sting was to disrupt the supply ring that had established itself in Palmerston North.

"We believe that this network was distributing methamphetamine in the Palmerston North area, and a team of officers from Manawatu, Whanganui, and Wellington supported by specialist Police dogs carried out the search warrants.

"This is a major success for both the Police and the public of Palmerston North. By disrupting and dismantling the supply of illicit drugs we can ensure our communities are happy, healthy, and safe places to live."

Four men and two women were arrested for a variety of methamphetamine supply related charges. The men were aged 43, 37, 20, and 45 and the women aged 28 and 39. They will all appear in the Palmerston North District Court today.
