Southern police urge caution for motorists as icy condition likely

1 min read

Following the recent wet weather and a drop in temperature with clear nights around the region, Southern motorists are now urged to take extra caution as we face a potentially heavy frost across the region.

Police urge motorists to take care when driving into shaded areas, bridge crossings and areas that could potentially harbour the infamous black ice.

Remember to leave a bit earlier, increase following distances, avoid erratic steering movements or heavy braking.

Various sections of road around the Southern region are now sporting blue catseye devices which indicate icy conditions, however please take note these aren't the only areas that harbour this dangerous roading state.

Police advise these conditions can last throughout the day so ensure care is taken on your trip home at the end of the day also.
