State Highway 2 will be closed at Matawai, 60km south of Opotiki, for at least two hours from midday today while a truck and trailer that rolled earlier this morning is removed.
The truck and trailer rolled at 8.20am, approximately 1km east of the Manganuku camping ground. No-one was injured and the Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit has been notified.
The truck isn’t blocking the road but due to its size, State Highway 2 will be closed from 12noon to allow recovery vehicles access to remove it.
The road is expected to be closed for at least two hours.
Anyone planning to travel to Gisborne is advised to take an alternative route around the coast. Police would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience.
