A serious two-car crash has closed Te Ponanga Saddle Road (State Highway 47), near Turangi.
Two people are in a critical condition following the crash, which happened at about 9.10am this morning.
Emergency services are at the scene and the Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.
Diversions are in place at State Highway 47's junctions with State Highway 41 and State Highway 46.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and please be patient.
