Statement following the sentencing of George Warren

1 min read

Attribute to West Coast Area Investigations Manager Detective Senior Sergeant Jacqui Corner

Police acknowledge the sentencing of George Warren, at the High Court in Greymouth.

Warren had earlier pleaded guilty to the murder of a 43-year-old woman in Greymouth on October 22 2017.

He was today sentenced to life imprisonment with a 17 year non-parole period.

The sentence reflects the gravity of Warren’s offending which resulted in the death of a woman.

The small West Coast community was left shattered and baffled by this crime.

I would like to thank the investigations team who worked tirelessly on this case, but there is still a lot of work to be done with two people still before the court in relation to this matter.

Police’s thoughts are with the 43-year-old woman’s family at this time, and we are grateful for their support and co-operation throughout the investigation.

They have requested privacy.
