Taranaki Police seek witnesses after stabbing incident in Hawera

Taranaki Police are seeking witnesses after a stabbing in Hawera this afternoon, Monday 25 February.

Police were notified of a disorder event around 1pm at the intersection of Albion and High Streets.

A male received stab wounds at the scene and is now recovering in hospital in a stable condition.

Police have arrested a 26-year-old male in relation to the stabbing.

He will appear in Hawera District Court tomorrow on a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time to contact Acting Detective Sergeant Chris Henry on 06 278 0260.
