Teenage boys injured in Timaru

1 min read

On Saturday night (14 November 2015) two teenage boys have fallen through a skylight on the Caroline Bay Arcade.

Senior Sergeant Mark Offen says this apparent copy cat behaviour of a incident on 5 November which resulted in a fatality is unacceptable.  “Police understand that three boys aged 15 and one boy aged 13 climbed on the roof to see where the incident took place.  In the process one of the 15 year olds has fallen through a skylight and badly injured his arm and the 13 year old jumped through the skylight to help his friend, injuring his legs when he landed.”

“This foolish and dangerous behaviour not only tied up emergency resources but also caused unnecessary pain and suffering to the family who lost their son in tragic circumstances on Guy Fawkes night.”

Police are working with Timaru District Council to prevent anyone else accessing the roof area.
