Two charged over assault on police dog handler

A 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old male have been arrested and charged with injuring with intent to injure following an assault on a police dog handler during a routine vehicle stop on Bairds Road, Otahuhu, at 3.50am on Saturday 28 May.
 
They are due to appear before Manukau district court on Monday.
 
The officer, who was knocked unconscious during the attack, has been released from hospital and is recovering at home.
