1 min read

Canterbury Police are investigating two aggravated robberies in Aranui that they believe may be linked.

The first, on Saturday (31 January 2015) took place at 5.40pm from a Dairy on the corner of Breezes Road and Pages Road.  Witnesses report that two men entered the Dairy armed with a hammer.  They left with a quantity of cash and tobacco.

At 7.30am this morning (3 February 2015) a Dairy on Hampshire Street was the target.  A man is understood to have entered the Dairy armed with a hammer.  He left with a small quantity of cash and was chased down the street by the shop owner.

A man involved in at least one of the robberies is described as being Maori, approx 175-200cm tall, heavy build and in his mid 20’s.

“A number of factors have led us to believe that the two incidents are linked including sightings of the same vehicle at both locations.  We are following up on some leads but cannot reveal any more specific information at this time as it may compromise our ongoing inquiries” explained Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Worner.

Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.

Canterbury Police are urging anyone who witnessed either incident or has any information relating to the incidents to contact them by calling 03 363 7400 and selecting option 5.
