1 min read

Two men will appear in Tauranga District Court today (Tuesday 16 December) charged with the murder of 19-year-old Takena Tiepa-Ranapia last month.

Mr Tiepa-Ranapia was discovered dead outside a house in Mansfield Street on the morning of Sunday, 30 November.

Two Tauranga men aged 37 and 36 have been charged with his murder.

A 40-year-old woman from Tauranga has been charged with wounding and assault with a weapon, in relation to a stabbing on nearby Ohauiti Road that same weekend. Two men have already appeared in court charged in relation to that stabbing.

Enquiries into Mr Tiepa-Ranapia’s death are continuing and further charges have not been ruled out.

Police are still keen to hear from anyone with information about these incidents. No weapon has yet been recovered and police would appeal again for anyone finding any knives, sharp implements, or discarded metal items such as wrenches or bars to make contact.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tauranga Police on 07 577 4300. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
