Update # 2 – Crash, Roxburgh, Central Otago

1 min read

Following a fatal crash near Roxburgh earlier today, four people remain in a serious condition in Dunedin Hospital.

They were taken to hospital by helicopter after emergency services were alerted at 1.52pm to a crash involving a bus and a 4WD vehicle on SH8.

The single occupant of the 4WD, a man local to Central Otago, has died. His name will not be released until next of kin have been informed.

Ten passengers were on the bus, which was travelling from Dunedin to Queenstown.

Police would like to thank members of the public who were first on the scene and did a fantastic job in assisting the injured until Police, Ambulance and Fire arrived.

All three agencies worked well together to ensure everyone received the appropriate medical care and that the road was cleared as soon as was able.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
