Update 2: Northland incident

Police can confirm all cordons that were in place in response to a serious incident in Northland this morning have now been lifted.

“There will be still be a higher presence of Police around Maungaturoto and the surrounding area as we continue to conduct enquiries, however there is no need for cordons to remain in place,” says Inspector Al Symonds.

AOS remain in the Kaiwaka area after sightings of the offender in the area. The offender’s location remains unknown at this stage however active enquiries are continuing.

Police are still looking for a man described as possibly in his late 30s, up to 6ft tall with brown curly hair.

He was wearing a blue t-shirt with white writing and a brown zip up hoodie.

“At this stage his location is unknown so we are asking members of the public to call 111 immediately if they observe any suspicious behaviour or anybody fitting the description.”
