Police have located the man who told passers-by that there had been a shooting in Putaruru earlier this evening. 
 
We are currently speaking to the man to ascertain the circumstances behind his actions.
 
We understand this has been an anxious time for Putaruru residents. 
 
We can confirm that there is still nothing to indicate that anyone has been shot and there is no risk to the community.
 
We do not anticipate that there will be any further updates tonight.
