UPDATE on fatal Police shooting in Rodney

1 min read

The family of the man shot by Police following an incident in Rodney early on Saturday morning have requested that Police do not release his name until after the funeral which is being planned for this week.

This is a very difficult time for the family and to release his name now would cause them undue stress and for this reason we will be waiting until after the funeral.

They have also requested privacy at this time and ask that they be allowed to grieve the loss of a much loved family member in private.

The Police investigation is progressing and through our enquiries it has become clear that the vehicle involved in the incident was seen by members of the public.

We are now appealing to our community for any information with regard to the white 2005 Subaru Legacy Saloon. We are specifically interested in any sightings of the vehicle in the Rodney area between Silverdale and Warkworth on State Highway 1 between 1.20am and 4am on Saturday 31 March 2018.

If you have any information which you think may assist the investigation team, even if it is only minor, then please do not hesitate to contact North Shore CIB on  09 477 5261.

We have no further information available at this time.
