Wakefield visits

Reassurance visits were made yesterday to homes in Wakefield.

Properties visited were the homes of people who had been evacuated due the Nelson fires and were allowed home on Monday.

Police along with New Zealand Defence Force personnel and New Zealand Red Cross volunteers handed out over 550 fact sheets.

The response from households was overwhelmingly positive and residents were appreciative for the visits.

Further visits will continue later this afternoon in the wider affected areas.

The Police presence in Wakefield remained high overnight and there were no incidents of note or matters of concern.
