The search for a woman believed to have drowned at the river mouth at Haumoana has been called off for the night.
The Police National Dive Squad has been advised and is due to arrive in Hawke's Bay in the morning.
The search is expected to resume at first light.
Police would like to thank the volunteers and those who assisted with this evening's search, including the Fire Service, Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter, Coastguard, and Surf Lifesaving.
