Canterbury Police are now able to name the victim of a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a van on Pound Road near the intersection with Savills Road shortly before 5pm last night (26 July 2015). He was 40 year old Shannon David Stewart from Christchurch.
The death has been referred to the Coroner. Shannon’s family are understandably upset and are being supported by Police and Victim Support.
Detective Sergeant Geoff Rudduck says “Police understand that Shannon was travelling north along Pound Road before his motorcycle was involved in a collision with a Toyota Hiace van. The driver and sole occupant of the van was not injured in the crash.”
Canterbury Police investigations are continuing.
