Victims consider next steps after death of Godfrey (aka Geoffrey) BALL

1 min read

Wairarapa Police have received a significant response from the public since Godfrey BALL was charged by Police with historic sexual offending.

At the time he was charged with representative charges for four victims and Police were in the process of investigating charges relating to 10 other victims. In addition to this there are at least further 14 victims of unconfirmed identity that Police are aware of and are working through the next investigative steps.

Officer in Charge of the case, Detective Damian Doocey says "We are ensuring that support is place for those all ready in contact with Police. When the victims were first advised of his death some had little to say as they were still trying to understand what this meant for them. Others have expressed shock as they wanted to see him held accountable in court. We are continuing to provide whatever support we can to help them as they come to terms with what has now occurred."

Police continue to encourage anyone with any concerns to contact Wairarapa Police so support and advice can be provided on (06) 370 0300.
