Police are currently assisting with a water search in the Manawatu River. Emergency services were alerted to the scene at 6pm this evening 1 December.
One person, a female, has been rescued from the river, and is receiving medical treatment from ambulance staff, however it's believed that a man is still in the water and emergency services are trying to locate him.
Local Surf Living Saving Club members have been called in to assist with the search, and emergency services, including a helicopter are currently searching the river and the river bank surrounds.
