Police are currently investigating a serious assault that occurred in Seddon Street Naenae early this Sunday morning.

The victim was found at 3:27am on Sunday 3 July with a serious head-injury.

The male currently lies in Hutt Hospital, ICU and is unlikely to survive.

Police understand that he was chased by a group who were attending a 21st party in Cleland Crescent.

It’s believed the party was attended by over 30 people and police are looking to speak to the attendees and other family members.  Police are appealing to any witnesses from the party or to the assault and any events thereafter.

A 27-year-old male from the Hutt Valley has been arrested and charged with assault and is appearing in the Lower Hutt District Court today.  It is possible that further charges will be laid.
