Whanganui Beach crash victim named

A man that died after he was thrown from his motorcycle on Whanganui Beach yesterday (30 July, 2015) evening can now be named.

He was Cherokee Martin, aged 29 of Whanganui.

Mr Martin was riding the motorcycle on the beach with friends at around 5pm.

Police believe he had struck a log while riding and was thrown off. He was not wearing a helmet at the time.

The man's friends called emergency services and paramedic's attempted to revive him but unfortunately he died at the scene.

Whanganui Police assisted by the Serious Crash Unit are continuing to investigate the crash.

The death has been referred to the coroner.
