Whanganui Police are aware of speculation circulating on social media regarding the double fatality that occurred on State Highway 3 near Kaitoke during the early hours of Saturday morning. Many of the social media posts are of an abusive and threatening nature.
Police would like to remind the public that our community has two families grieving for loved ones. Please give them the respect they deserve at this difficult time. The highly speculative and abusive nature of the posts currently circulating within social media are making a very hard time even more stressful for these families.
Until a comprehensive investigation is completed Police will not be speculating on the cause or any other aspect of the accident.
