Whanganui Prison assault update – Operation Labour

Police have concluded their investigation into an assault at Whanganui Prison where an inmate was attacked by fellow prisoners on Monday 26th October 2015.

The inmate was set-upon by a group and spent time in Wellington Hospital where he underwent treatment for a serious head injury.  Police and Corrections staff launched an extensive investigation.

The Police investigation has now been concluded.  “Three males have been arrested and will be appearing in the Whanganui District Court on Wednesday 30th of March 2016.  They face charges of, Wounding with Intent to Injure,” says D/Sgt Glenn Toy, of Whanganui Police.
