Police. We wish all of our readers a safe and happy Christmas holiday. We visit police in the tiny Pacific Island of Niue and we meet the new group managing the international face of NZ Police. Police help scuttle old Navy frigate
It only took one minute and fifty seconds for decommissioned NZ Navy frigate HMNZS Wellington (F69) to sink in spectacular fashion off Wellington's rugged south coast. | Strike achieves plenty of guilty pleas Throughout the seven-month-long Operation Strike investigation, police from Auckland City and Counties/Manukau Districts recovered six firearms and laid charges relating to the unlawful taking of more than a million dollars worth of high performance vehicles, more than $50,000 of fraudulent use of credit cards and the thefts of valuable art works from a Parnell gallery. | Ngakia Kia Puawai resolves to reduce rate of offending by Māori More than 150 police staff and Māori leaders from throughout New Zealand attending the fifth annual NZ Police National Māori Responsiveness Conference: Ngakia Kia Puawai in Nelson last month resolved to continue to work together to reduce the disproportionate rate of offending by Māori and victimisation of Māori. Tasman honoured to host conference Detective Inspector John Winter, Acting Tasman District Commander says it was an honour to host Ngakia Kia Puawai in Nelson, as this was the first time the conference had been held in the South Island. NZ Police wish to extend their sympathy to the family of Tasman District Kaumātua George Martin who died during proceedings at the Ngakia Kia Puawai conference in Nelson. Rain doesn't dampen enthusiasm for show Despite persistent heavy rain, Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS) ambassador, Henare O'Keefe kept a large crowd of parents and children enthralled as he delivered the KOS message and entertained with songs at the recent Children's Day at Mair Park in Whangārei. Students step outside comfort zone Twenty-five youngsters spent a week at Burnham Army Camp last month ‘challenging their comfort zones' in a NZ Army Youth Life Skills Programme under the auspices of Police Blue Light Ventures. Associate Minister of Social Development and Employment Hon Ruth Dyson greets children at the official launch of the Wairarapa Family Safety Team (FST) last month. Four teams covering six sites, form part of a pilot scheme to improve coordination and information sharing between agencies. Teams are multi-disciplinary, comprising police, social workers and community agencies. |
