Group approach fills in 'blanks' The Tairawhiti Abuse Intervention Network (TAIN) is tackling family violence in the Gisborne area with great results. The self-esteem of young female victims of sexual abuse in the Hastings area is being boosted a programme developed by Hastings Youth Aid Constables Su Robinson and Sue Guy with help from Blue Light Coordinator Victoria Clark. Youth driver programme cuts reoffending rate The Hastings Blue Light Youth Driver Education programme has been extended to build and reinforce skills learnt during stage one of the programme. The Closed Circuit Crime Prevention Camera Network installed in Gisborne's central business district late last year is already having an impact. A fleet of 25 shiny new bikes and helmets will soon accompany Hawkes Bay Police Youth Education Officers to primary and intermediate schools throughout the region. St Christopher adopted as 'business as usual' The ten-week operation rolled out in November last year to respond to a worrying spike in Eastern District's road toll has been so successful it's now been adopted as 'business as usual'. |
