Police have charged a 27-year-old man with murder in relation to the homicide of a woman in Opotiki on Monday.
He is due to appear in Whakatane District Court at 11.45am today.
“We are pleased to have made this arrest so quickly and hope it will help the whanau and friends of the victim in some way,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Standen.
The Police investigation is continuing in Opotiki and Te Kaha, where the man was arrested.
“We’d like to extend a big thank you to the Opotiki and Te Kaha communities for providing information and support during this tragic investigation.”
The victim’s name will be released once formal identification is completed.
