Aggravated robbery at BP Palmerston North

Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at the BP service station on Main Street, Palmerston North last night.

At approximately 9.20pm a man entered the premises and presented a knife at the sole attendant in the shop while demanding cash and tobacco.

The shop attendant was understandably shaken but unharmed.

A quantity of tobacco pouches and an amount of cash was taken and the offender ran from the shop out onto Main Street.

A scene examination is taking place this morning and CCTV footage is being reviewed.

The offender is described as a male Caucasian, approximately 180cm tall and of athletic build. He was wearing a camouflage jacket, black gloves and beanie.

Police are interested to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area of BP Main Street between 8:30 and 9:30pm last night and may have seen a person fitting that description.
