Homicide Investigation Underway

Counties Manukau Police are investigating following the death of a 32 year old man in Takanini last night.  At about 8.00pm the man was driven to an accident and emergency clinic in Takanini by some associates after an altercation at a nearby address.  Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died shortly afterward.

A homicide investigation named Operation Camelot has commenced.  A post-mortem examination will take place today.

“A number of witnesses were interviewed last night and Police have a good understanding of events that led to the man's death,” says Detective Inspector Dave Lynch, Counties Manukau Police CIB.  “A scene examination at the Porchester Road address where the altercation occurred will commence this morning with the assistance of forensic staff.

“A 38 year man is assisting Police with enquires and Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.’

Police are appealing to locals for any sightings of a knife or similar sharp instrument in the area around Porchester Road.  Anyone with any information relevant to the investigation can contact the investigation team on 0508 422 443.  Information can be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
