Investigation ongoing into death of baby girl

The Taranaki Police investigation into the death of a baby girl in Hawera yesterday (3 February, 2015) is ongoing.

Police can now release the name of the baby girl.

She was Janice Anne Shona Te Aroha Revell, aged approximately 7 weeks old, from Hawera.

A post mortem was completed today at the Palmerston North Hospital and the results were inconclusive. Police will be making no further comment on the results.   

Detective Senior Sergeant Brent Matuku, officer in charge of the investigation says: "This is a very distressing time for Janice's family and we are continuing to speak to them in an effort to piece together the circumstances that led to Janice's tragic death."

"We still don't have all the facts however over the comings days we should have a clearer picture of what has occurred."

Police is not seeking anyone else in connection with the investigation.
